Dorae House
‘Naju Dorae Village House’ is the second Cultural heritage preserved by National Trust Cultural Heritage Fund, Korea and public donations.
It’s located in the heart of Dorae village famous for the most traditional village in Jeonnam province. Traditional atmosphere well preserved by stone wall, it’s valued that characters of modern Hanok in 19th century is revealed in flexible division upon space requirement. We can witness various changes happened in Hanok during modernization.
Dorae village House is consisted of three parts, ‘Anchae’, ‘Munganchae’ built on 1936, and ‘Byeoldangchae’ built on 2006.
‘Anchae(main building)’ is ‘-‘ shape containing kitchen, main room, living room and saranbang successively. Comparing to other houses built before 1920’s, it has distinctive such as kitchen without little ‘attached room’,built-in pantry in kitchen and locating sarangbang next to bedroom. ‘Byeoldangchae’ was built in modern applying many benefits of Hanok. Rooms and maru has been connected and have inside kitchen and restroom.
After final restoration in February 2009, it is being implemented cultural heritage preservation activities by volunteers and cultural experience program.
